The school is run by its Governing Body through the headteacher. Governors focus on the direction of the school and ensure that through the curriculum and pupil welfare all the pupils are provided with a good quality education. We are accountable to parents, funders of the school (the government and Wandsworth Council) and the local community. We are all volunteers and we commit to attending the termly full governing body and sub-committee meetings and visiting the school.
The Governing Body has a strong focus on three core strategic functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
As well as operating as a whole group we are divided into three sub-committees, which focus on specific operational areas of the school. Each governor belongs to at least one of the following sub-committees:
- Curriculum & Achievement including Safeguarding
- Finance & Premises
Each Committee has specific terms of reference:
We are governed by a Governance document which can be daunting, a code of Conduct and a very solid group of advice and information policies.
Associate Governors, are appointed to the board for their expertise. They are selected by the Governors for a period of time determined by them or for a particular role requiring specific expertise. They can attend meetings but have no voting rights.
Spaces on the board do arise and if you would like to be considered do contact the school for more information.
