Facilities.
The school is on one floor and each classroom has direct access to the playgrounds. The school is a very secure building CCTV is in operation and the playgrounds are contained within a planned secure fencing system. Vandalism and graffiti are rare and the school is maintained to a high standard by staff and children. The school has a well-stocked library, a comprehensive resource area and a range of equipment for the extensive production of teaching materials. The school has a core scheme based upon the Oxford Reading Tree. Reading results, which are well above the national average, are supported by a strong emphasis on English and literacy. A computer suite in two rooms provides high-speed access to the information superhighway. A whole class is able to access a range of software and surf the net for resources related to class work. Recent additions to the suite include interactive smart boards in each class, linked to the central suite all able to access the internet via a fast broadband connection. Mathematics results are well above the national average and we go against national trends for having boys achievement well above the national average. Science is equally well above the national average. We have a large range of resources to teach all areas of the national Curriculum and our school is proud of the well-rounded education that is provided. Expenditure on the curriculum is maintained by a careful analysis of need and by the care and diligence the staff and children maintain in looking after the extensive resources we have. The school Parent Teachers Association adds considerably to the resources through their various activities. Our new building taking shape and the modifications to the old building will provide new facilities and improve class and ICT provision. A new kitchen and hall will offer better meals and space for allsorts of activities. In september this site will outline what we have gained.
Admission to the School. A set of criteria for admission to the school is available with an application form for entry to the nursery and the school. We are a popular school and a large number of parents apply for places throughout the school. We would encourage you to register your child with us whilst also suggesting you place your childs name on the application of other schools which may be nearer should you live beyond our admissions area. We encourage all parents to do this to ensure that in the event of a place being unavailable parents have alternatives. If you are not offered a place it is within your legal rights to appeal against this and the school is very happy to explain the procedures involved. Visiting the school. The school holds a regular tour around the school every Thursday at 10am. The children will normally show visitors around the school and at the end the School Business manager and on most occasions the Headteacher will be available to answer questions and queries. Visits are during term times only and if you are uncertain as to these periods please contact the school. In certain situations visits at other times can be arranged, please feel free to phone the school if you have a particular problem. Admission forms for the school are not sent by post unless a stamped address envelope is sent with the request but visitors on a Thursday will be given the necessary forms at the end of their visit.
