What we do

The school is run by its governing body through the headteacher. Governors focus on the direction of the school and ensure that through the curriculum and pupil welfare all the pupils are provided with a good quality education. We are accountable to parents, funders of the school (the government and Wandsworth Council) and the local community. We are all volunteers and we commit to attending the termly full governing body and sub-committee meetings and visiting the school.

Our key responsibilities are:

  • setting the school’s strategic direction, aims and policies
  • improving standards of teaching and achievement
  • approving the school’s budget
  • challenging and supporting senior staff
  • acting as a link between the local community and the school
  • playing a part in appointing staff

As well as operating as a whole group we are divided into four sub-committees, which focus on specific operational areas of the school. Each governor belongs to at least one of the following sub-committees:

  • Curriculum
  • Finance and premises
  • Personnel
  • Safeguarding
