Year One have been working on the following areas and in the gallery are photos of the children at work.   We had lots of fun learning about sources of light and object that reflect light. We used torches and pin hole shoe boxes to experiment in Science.

We enjoyed talking about volcanoes so much that Miss. Astbury made a gooey, messy volcano out of corn-flour for us to play in. It was very messy but we loved it!

As part of our DT and History topic, we enjoyed walking around the local area learning more about the houses.   Year 1A have been practising their measuring skills using non standard units to measure various objects around the classroom.

As part of the Art curriculum, Year 1 found out all about weaving and then used different materials to weave. They made beautiful Christmas presents which we hope you enjoyed.  Mrs. Lee’s husband made a wonderful new loom for us to practise on and we even tried out our new skills on the fence in the playground.
