Beatrix Potter School Governors Our children are our future, we as Governors strive to provide the best possible opportunities for our children to achieve and thrive in this excellent school. We work alongside the whole school community to achieve the best possible outcomes for all our children. We are critical friends, advisors, supporters of our school. We are very proud to be associated with Beatrix Potter and its high standards of education. Working together we will continue this tradition and move the school forward to even greater achievements. Mr Andi Britt. Chair of Governors. What do Governors do? The school is run by its governing body through the Headteacher. The governors have a range of powers relating to the school and is made up of four elected parents, the Headteacher, another teacher elected by the staff, three local authority representatives three governors co-opted by the governing body and one support staff member. The co opted governors are often parents who have particular skills which will support the school. Governors deal with the direction of the school and ensure that the curriculum, pupil welfare and the needs of the community are incorporated into the school developments. They have termly full governing body meetings and operate a number of sub committees. These cover the curriculum. the building and its finances and the staff and children (personnel) The sub committees meet at least once every half ferm and often more to cover the work required to manage a thriving school. We are fortunate to have a considerable range of expertise on the governing body. This brings 'fresh eyes' to issues and enables the school to be innovative as well as maintaining the high standards we all expect. Our current Governors and their roles are:
Sometimes things do not work out and you may feel that the school needs to handle a concern differently.
